| David Rees
David Rees began his formal lighting training majoring in theater at
Oberlin College. In addition to his design and production studies, David
spent summers working with Shakespeare & Co. of Lenox, MA and the The
Santa Fe Opera Company.
After departing Oberlin, David worked on a number of prestigious productions
on his way to Broadway. These credits include serving as lighting director
of Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, as well as production
electrician on Oba Oba, 42nd Street, the 25th Anniversary National
Tour of Hair. David has worked in the lighting department on
numerous Broadway productions and tours including Bring in Da Noise/Bring
in Da Funk, Jelly’s Last Jam, Victor/Victoria, Miss Saigon, Annie
Get Your Gun and Jekyll & Hyde.
After making
the transition from Broadway to corporate theater in 2000, David has designed
live shows and trade show booths for Mercedes, Mazda, Reliant, Amgen,
Forest, Yamanouchi, General Motors, Carlson Hotels, John Deere, American
Express and G-Lec. His Production Electrician credits include events for
Deutsche Bank, Pfizer, Honda Motorcycles, DaimlerChrysler, among numerous
others. In addition to his lighting design talents, David has extensive
experience in project management. For the past four years David has acted
as the lighting and rigging project manager for Daimler Chrysler at the
Detroit, Chicago and New York Auto Shows. The requirements of this position,
including developing and managing multi-million dollar budgets, have given
him a comprehensive view of all aspects of production. These skills, combined
with his mature design eye, make him an invaluable asset to the UVLD team.
