2/1/05A New Vision for Ingram Associates

Award winning lighting design partnership Ingram Associates, Inc., has announced that it is changing its name as part of a radical re-envisioning of the company’s market presence.

On February 1st, 2005, New York-based Ingram Associates, Inc. will become Unlimited Visibility Lighting Design – UVLD.

“We are a different company than we were six years ago when we started with just three partners,” comments UVLD’s founder and Emmy award-winner John Ingram. “Our business has always been based on the personal associations that we have developed. However, these days, we have a new generation of designers as partners, with their own relationships and their own clients. It has been an evolutionary process. We are not the same partnership we were six years ago, and its time for our name to change, too.”

Unlimited Visibility will continue the core business of Ingram Associates -- lighting design services for live entertainment, live television, corporate theatre, themed environments, and display work. However, UVLD is expanding their existing services in architectural and retail projects as well as increasing their presence in the trade show market. The new name allows the collaborative partnership to take center stage, and presents the designers as a group of equals rather than trading on the name of a principal designer.

As well as a new name, UVLD will have an online presence for the first time in the shape of UVLD.com. “We’ve never worried about our industry profile in the past,” remarks Gregory Cohen, lighting designer for Unlimited Visibility and co-founder of Ingram Associates. “Our work has always been based on referrals, and in some ways, it’s been nice to surprise people with the jobs we’ve done and our client list. We never really missed having a website, for example. Upon consideration we’ve realized what a useful tool it could be for our designers and our customers.”

Currently with eight lighting designers based all over the United States, Unlimited Visibility is proud of its diverse portfolio of design styles and its ability to cater to the entire lighting design market. “We are almost a collective,” remarks designer Gregory Norgeot of Unlimited Visibility. “We strive to create a team environment that is of benefit to both the designer and the client. We all bring something to the table. Titles, individual credits and total billings is really not what we are about. I think the UVLD name reflects that. The bottom line is that John Ingram, Greg Cohen, Cameron Yeary, David Rees, Paul Sharwell, Laura Perlman, Nancy Shaw and I are all creative partners as well as business partners.”

“Our client’s choices, and their interests, always come first,” states Cohen. “We are a cohesive group and we’ll always discuss a project with the person who is right for that project, but ultimately, it is the client who is in control. Preserving our relationships with our clients is sacrosanct; we know we are often hired as individuals.”

Recent projects for Ingram Associates / Unlimited Visibility have included national dealer meetings for BMW, John Deere, Mazda, Mercedes Benz and Volvo, events for Accenture, Audi Goldman Sachs, Cisco Systems, Lotus Software, IBM and Xerox, as well as the lighting of NBC’s Christmas in Rockefeller Center for the sixth year running.

UVLD prides itself on a down-to-earth approach to lighting design while maintaining the highest levels of professionalism. As a rule, Unlimited Visibility designers program their own consoles unless the project warrants a separate programmer. While good relationships with lighting rental vendors are of prime importance, Unlimited Visibility never insists on any one company and does not sub-rent equipment itself. The UVLD team, however, has substantial experience negotiating deep-discounts with vendors that is only possible with its collaborative approach. This commitment to the highest ethical standards, as well as a staunch devotion to the integrity of a project’s budget, sets UVLD apart.

Unlimited Visibility is committed to providing the best in lighting design for all clients and believes in providing a service that goes – as far as the eye can see.
